Community Service is one of Rotary’s core Avenues of Service. It calls upon Rotarians to dedicate their efforts to the betterment of their local and regional communities. Each Rotary Club, and every Rotarian, bears the responsibility to identify opportunities that enhance quality of life and to act in service of the greater public interest.

Funding Local Non-Profts

  • Through the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Foundation, we provide support to local nonprofit organizations whose efforts enhance the quality of life throughout our Mountain Community.
  • Some examples of grants provided in the past:
    • Dental sealants for grade school children to improve their health
    • Boys and Girls Club
    • Operation Provider
    • Rim of the World Blue Star Moms
    • Veterans Services
IRS has approved the Lake Arrowhead Gathering Place as a nonprofit charitable organization! Congratulations to everyone for their hard work and contributions!

Literacy/The Gift of Books (Many Projects)

  • The Blue Jay Christmas Parade – During this annual event, we distribute 800 brand-new, high-quality books to children along the parade route, promoting literacy and the joy of reading.
  • We donate books to school libraries
  • We read to students at local elementary schools
  • Little Libraries in various areas in the mountains to serve our community with free books.

Little Blessings

  • Each holiday season, we provide gifts to homeless high school students—often the only present they will receive—bringing them a moment of joy and a reminder that they are not forgotten.
  • Each month our community services chair, Teri Ostlie, chooses a group that can use a Little Blessing.

Earth Day Beautification and Litter Clean-ups

  • We have adopted a large section of Hwy 173
  • We hold annual litter/trash cleanups on Earth Day

Planting Daffodils

  • We help beautify the mountain by planting daffodils purchased from Soroptimist International of Rim of the World, while also supporting their important work to empower and assist women and girls in our mountain communities.

Centennial Park in Twin Peaks

  • In 2005, our Rotary Club built and developed this park to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Rotary International. Designed as a lasting tribute to Rotary’s century of service, it stands as a symbol of our commitment to community, fellowship, and the enduring impact of Rotary’s mission both locally and globally.
