Community Service
Community Service is one of the Avenues of Service which encourages Rotarians to offer service to their local and regional communities. Every Rotary Club and every Rotarian assumes a responsibility to find ways to improve the quality of life for those in their communities and to serve the public interest.
Funding Local Non-Profts
- Through our Rotary Foundation, we support many efforts of local non-profits to improve the quality of life for our Mountain Community.
- Some examples of grants provided in the past:
- Dental sealants for grade school children to improve their health
- Boys and Girls Club
- Operation Provider
- Rim of the World Blue Star Moms
- Veterans Services
Literacy / the Gift of Books (Many Projects)
- Blue Jay Christmas Parade – we pass out 800 new, high quality books to children along the parade route
- We donate books to school libraries
- We read at elementary schools
- Little Libraries in various areas in the mountains to serve our community with free books.
Little Blessings
- Holiday presents are provided to homeless High School students, which are often the only present they receive.
- Each month our community services chair, Teri Ostlie, chooses a group that can use a Little Blessing.
Earth Day Beautification and Litter Clean-ups
- We have adopted a large section of Hwy 173
- We hold annual litter / trash cleanups on Earth Day
Planting Daffodils
