Vocational Service
Vocational Service is one Rotary’s Avenues of Service. It embodies Rotary’s commitment to high ethical standards, the recognition of the value of all useful occupations, and the application of professional skills to serve society.
What is Vocational Service?
Vocational Service encourages Rotarians to:
- Aspire to and promote the highest ethical standards in their professions and businesses.
- Recognize the worthiness of all useful occupations as opportunities to serve society.
- Use their vocational talents to address the problems and needs of the community.
Rotarians have a dual responsibility:
- To represent their vocation within the club.
- To exemplify the ideals of Rotary in their workplaces and daily lives
Core Principles
Vocational Service is rooted in the Object of Rotary, which calls on Rotarians to:
- Develop acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
- Maintain high ethical standards in business and professions.
- Recognize the dignity and worth of all occupations.
- Apply the ideal of service in personal, business, and community life
The Four-Way Test guides Rotarians in all professional and personal relationships:
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
